FISHING IN MINGANIE
To the east of the average North Shore, at the border of the former Labrador, in the heart of the Mingan archipelago and opposite Anticosti Island, this fishing territory benefits from an exceptional setting, infused with sea spray and the scents of the sea, peat bogs, and boreal forest. The village of Baie-Johan-Beetz is a well-kept secret of Quebec. Its beauty is a source of pride for its inhabitants, whose lives have long been rhythmically influenced by the excitement surrounding the heritage home of Johan-Beetz, where you will have the chance to stay. Each day, you will set out to explore a part of its territory, including the Quetachou River, its 2 exclusive rights Atlantic salmon rivers, the Petite Watshishou and the Piashti River, their waterfalls with splendid panoramic views, as well as their adjoining lakes, not to mention the discovery of the marine environment. A great diversity of species to fish awaits you: Atlantic salmon, brook trout, sea trout, arctic char, ouananiche...
Typical fishing day
Fishing for Atlantic salmon and trout
On the day of your arrival and departure, you will have the opportunity to fish only at the edges of the Château. Atlantic salmon fishing: Breakfast is served from 7 AM. Departure from the lodge is generally set for 8 AM with a guide for two fishermen, returning at 12 PM for lunch at the Château. The pools are left to rest from 12 PM to 3 PM. At 3 PM, return to fishing with a rotation on the pools between groups of two fishermen, so you will not fish the same pools in the morning and afternoon. At 6 PM, return to the Château where a small snack is served as an appetizer in the common lounge. From 7 PM, dinner is served in the common dining room. Trout fishing: Trout fishing requires going further upstream than for salmon, so departure is at 8 AM with provisions for a lunch or a shore lunch, returning to the Château at 6 PM, under the same conditions as for the return from a day of salmon fishing.
